Description: A joke about a bath or a shower
Instructions: Read the sentences below and answer the questions or fill in the spaces
The Joke:
The hotel receptionist asked me, ‘Do you want a room with a bath or a shower?”
“The shower will be cheaper,” I thought.
So I asked her. What is the difference?”
“Oh,” she said, “you stand up for a shower.”
Explanation:
This is a typical joke. The joke makes out that the hotel receptionist is rather stupid and does not have a great deal of common sense. The hotel receptionist should have told the consumer the difference in price between a room with a shower and that with a bath. Instead she explained what the difference is between a bath and a shower. The difference is so obvious that by doing that she was really showing how stupid she was.
