Body Mass Index (BMI): The ‘Body Mass Index (or BMI)’ is the standard ratio of weight-to-height. To calculate BMI, the weight (kg) is divided by the square of the height (meters). A BMI of 18.5 and 24.9 is considered normal for adults. Higher BMI suggests that the person is overweight.
A calorie: ‘A Calorie’ is the unit used to measure energy.
Cholesterol: ‘Cholesterol’ is a soft wax like product formed by the liver for normal body functions. In the diet it is obtained by consuming animal products. A high level of cholesterol is bad for the body.
Enzymes: ‘Enzymes’ are proteins in the body that enable chemical reaction. Digestive enzymes help the body to break down food.
Macro and Micronutrients: The major proportion of food that is consumed and give us energy fall under the title of ‘Macronutrients’. All other food falls under the title ‘Micronutrients’.
