Instructions: Read the sentences below and answer the questions or fill in the spaces
If you ask some people whether they like to visit the dentist, some would say they dread visiting one. Some adults have a fear of visiting the dentists. The thought of having a tooth removed and the sound of the loud drill are what put people off from making a dental appointment.
Although we are advised to visit the dentist at least once a year, some people choose to put off dental appointments until a dental problem worsens. It is understandable that not everyone likes to visit the dentist, but it is better to make an appointment when a dental problem is still at its mild stage.
There are ways to help people overcome their fear of visiting the dentist. One could take a supportive friend or family member to follow him or her to the dentist. Having a friend or family member to come along helps to reduce a person’s fear of entering the dentist’s clinic.
It is also important to find a dentist who has the ability to ensure the patient is at ease during a dental check-up. If your dentist is the kind of person that does not keep his or her patients feel at ease, it is time to look for a new one.
