Description: An article about changing your name in a new country
Instructions: Read the short article below and answer the questions or fill in the spaces.
Your name is your own. Your name gives you your identity. Identity means who you are and what person you are and all things about yourself.
Foreign names sound foreign to some employers. This is why some people (e.g. from China and Samoa) like to change their Chinese or Samoan name. Some Chinese people find an English name (e.g. Jane, Robert, Cathy) and say that that is their name.
Think about your name and identity. If you have changed your name, think about why you have changed your name. Is it because your own name is difficult to pronounce? Is that a good enough reason?
Just because you had a Chinese name and now have an English name does that make your English better? Does it make you English?
