Many people in China like animals. Some animals are wild e.g. tigers and lions. Others are not wild e.g. dogs and cats. Dogs and cats can live with people. Home pets are gentle. Pets at home are lovely.

In China these days some people like to have a pet. In China many families only have one child. When the child goes to school or university or work there is no-one at home. A pet can help look after the older people in the family. Retired people in particular like to have a pet. Keeping a pet is good for your health. A pet can help people to kill their time.
