Position: SAFETY & SECURITY OFFICER

Review Period: From X date to Y date

Primary Objectives: To ensure security is maintained of the campus buildings

 

1 Key Tasks Results Expected and how measured

1 To carry out security checks on all

building complexes as laid down in

standard operating procedures Building complexes secured when not required.

2 To carry out security patrols of car

parks and monitor compliance with

vehicle and parking regulations efficient and correct parking maintained: vehicle use and parking regulations complied with.

3 To patrol the campus on foot or by

vehicle. to minimize vandalism and

littering Tidy and vandal free complex

4 To carry out the opening and closing of

buildings, as laid down in standard

operation procedures Unhindered access to campus resources for those persons authorised by the company. Denial of access to unauthorised persons

5 To operate the electronic security

systems in accordance with standard

operation procedures Secure assets during non occupational periods.

6 To participate in a 24 hour campus

reaction force duty roster to respond to

alarm activation’s emergencies and there

problems as they arise Quick reaction to all campus emergencies to keep people safe and preserve campus assets and resources.

7 To provide manpower and vehicle

establishment of an Incident Control Competent and timely co – ordination of emergencies/disaster.

Point to co – ordinate responses during an emergence/ disaster

8 To provide immediate First Aid medical

emergencies with particular focus on the

‘after hours’ period Stabilisation of victims until medical help is provided

9 To report to the Safety and Security

Coordination all safety and security

incidents in the format outlined in

standard operating procedures Timely reporting for the initiation of further action as outlined in standard operating procedures

10 To initiate and complete immediate

reporting requirements in event of safety

and / or security incidents, i.e. Police

burglaries Timely reporting to outside agencies to assist further enquiries or prosecutions

11 To report by means of a memo or

internal requisition, any damage of

property leaking taps pipes etc and faulty

or ineffective electrical components,

lights and other devices, noticed during

routine patrol A safer secure environment for all people on campus

12 To confirm an individual’s authority to

be on campus by means of identify

confirmation Reduction of security incidents

13 To provide assistance to students, staff

and visitors in a helpful and courteous

manner, at all times Promotion of a friendly, helpful and effective campus environment

14 To provide assistance and advice to

departments in the transportation of cash

other valuables within the confines of the

campus Minimise of potential from harm to staff, students and visitors resulting from criminal activity

15 To Monitor CCVE and replace

recording media as laid down in standard

operating procedures Efficient and effective use of the medium

16 To assist the safety and security co-

ordinator /head custodian with any

special tasks
